I went to the Opera for the first time tonight. I admit it was an experience. People really get dressed up for the occasion. The music was beautiful and the soprano was pretty amazing.
The opera was Lucia di Lammermoor. I have to admit that it's not my favorite story but overall I had a great time. Aida is coming in the spring time. I'd really like to see that.
We don't get live opera up here in Yellowknife but we do get those live simulcasts from the New York Met in the theatre - they're fabulous (and a bit easier on the pocketbook than live, too)
